Gunung Timur Temple

 

Gunung Timur Temple is a Chinese tabernacle which is the largest in the megacity of Medan, Indonesia and conceivably also on the islet of Sumatra. This tabernacle was erected in the 1962 and devoted to Dongyue Dadi. This tabernacle is located at Jalan Hang Tuah, about 500 measures from the Sri Mariamman Temple and is located on the side of Babura swash.

This tabernacle formerly served as the centre of faith for the Chinese community in Medan for numerous times and it was also one of Medan's multilateral icon, as there are an oldest Hindu tabernacle Sri Mariamman tabernacle and also a synagogue named Masjid Agung hard. This tabernacle always be filled with worshippers on Imlek, Cap Go Meh days and Chit Gwee Pua jubilee.

This tabernacle was innovated concertedly and cooperation by Taoist and Buddhist communities in Medan. Besides being a place of deification for Buddhists, the tabernacle is also notorious as a literal point in Medan. Formerly, this structure is a land of steep land near the Babura swash, in 1960, this tabernacle was begun to be erected. At the entrance of the tabernacle, there are two ornate statues of Napoleons and dragons are the hallmark of the Chinese race. When entered into the tabernacle, there's a place for deification, decorated with incense and candles. At the top of the structure, there's a decorated of a brace green multicolored dragon facing each other with the sun in the middle. Behind a dragon statue there also has a brace of giant dragon- headed fish too. Right in front of the tabernacle there are also huge statues of a black and white captain. It also contains a large paved area with an impressively gauged incense burner, two covered badminton courts, a veritably large main hall and is incompletely girdled by a culvert and walls

. In this place, there are several stages, the position of the deification of the gods. In total there are 80 statues of divinities in this place. In the first place there's the statue of Lord Shen Jing Ru followed by Lord Shen Zai Zhu Sen Da in beside him. Further to the hinder there's god Cen Cing Tien and Xian Shi Dian. In the sixth number there are Ou Xian Gu and Wang Yan Dian Shi statue guarding the leftism and right of the burning of incense in the tabernacle. On the inside of the structure there's a Buddhist balcony, accompanied by Maitreya Buddha and the Goddess Kwan Im. While on the right side there an balcony filled with some gods in the culture of Chinese traditional beliefs, the Tua Pek Kong accompanied with Thay Suei. Under there's a statue of Thien Kou ( canine heaven) and Pek Ho Kong (White Tiger) companion by Tho Te Kong (the god of the land).
