Botubarani Beach is located in Botubarani Village, Kabila Bone District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo, Indonesia, about 12 km from the center of Gorontalo City with a travel time of 20 to 30 minutes by land. Its location close to the city center makes this tourist spot always crowded with tourists. In addition, access to Botubarani Beach is also very easy because it is not far from the main road, so visitors can use two-wheeled vehicles or four-wheeled vehicles to go to Botubarani Beach.

Botubarani Beach is a coast that faces directly to Tomini Bay, so it has clean blue sea water and very calm waves. Botubarani Beach has trees that stand neatly parallel, as if ready to be a protector for visitors when the heat hits. On the beach there is also a pier, which visitors can use to sit back and relax while eating lunch brought from home. Enjoying the beauty of Botubarani Beach from the pier can also be a charming choice, where Tomini Bay will look more perfect. Around the beach are also lined up with local fishing boats, which are parked for later use at night to find fish in the middle of the sea.

In addition to presenting the beauty of the coast, Botubarani Beach is also often visited by tame whale sharks. Therefore, local fishermen make the presence of the whale shark or the Latin name Rhyncodon typus the main attraction. However, fishermen cannot predict when the presence of whale sharks on Botubarani Beach. Therefore, many tourists must be disappointed because they cannot meet whale sharks on Botubarani Beach.

This problem has prompted the Makassar Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center (BPSPL) to conduct research to determine the pattern of whale shark appearances in the waters of Botubarani Beach. Based on the results of this study, it is known that in January the whale sharks only stopped at Botubarani Beach for about two days, then for 14 days in February, 8 days in March, and in April it was known that whale sharks usually would not stop at Botubarani Beach. Meanwhile, whale sharks will usually stop for 28 days in May, for 21 days in June, 2 days in July, and August and November there are no whale sharks on the beach.

Therefore, Botubarani Beach will be more crowded with tourists in May and July every year. To be able to meet whale sharks, it's a good idea to visit Botubarani Beach in the morning, around 7 to 10, at which time they are hunting for prey.

To be able to meet whale sharks, tourists must go to the middle of the sea by renting a local fishing boat for IDR 80,000 for a capacity of 4 people. To get a cheaper price, it's a good idea to rent a boat in groups with a maximum of 4 people, so you can jointly pay the rent. To attract the attention of whale sharks, tourists will usually fish by feeding them shrimp which can be purchased from local fishermen for IDR 20,000 per bag.
